Experts breed experts…
If you want to learn how to become good at something there’s no use learning from average Joe down the pub, you need to find an expert who can give you the quickest, most effective route to success.
So many people take the scenic route to success by finding average Joe’s to work with, and they wonder why it takes so long to see results or get any results for that matter.
Look at Hollywood actors and actresses. When they want to hone a skill they find an expert who can teach them what they need to know so that they can get good at something as quickly as possible.
I think this all comes down to mindset and how aggressively people approach goals. In my experience, if you don’t go “all in” in an aggressive way, it’s VERY tough to produce tangible results.
I can appreciate “taking it slowly” to begin with if the waters are completely new to you, however, there comes a time when the gear has to be changed, the heat has to be turned up, and other generic phrases related to trying harder.
Without this rise in heat, it’s hard to take things further so that you can begin to see a change in your ability. This is why having an expert in your life is essential when you want to hone your craft.
Experts will tell you EXACTLY what you need to do to achieve your goals and at what pace. If you want to see success, it’s simple, just follow their advice. Ok the work itself may not be simple but the guesswork has been taken out of the equation for you, you just follow their plan and you will reach your goal ten times faster than you would if you followed the average Joe’s advice.
So here’s a tough question to answer:
Are your coaches, mentors, and advice givers experts in their field? Have they achieved everything you want with your goal or similar?
If not it may be time to find a real expert who can take you to the next level…
Think of it this way, when you were growing up which parent cooked most of the meals in the house? Let’s say for argument sake that your mother cooked most of the meals when you were growing up (this is just for argument sake, no stereotyping!!), and she did a pretty darn good job of it.
When you want to learn how to cook one of her best dishes, do you go to your dad for advice or your mother?
Obviously your mother right?!
What would the purpose be of going to your dad? Sure he might know the ingredients and possibly how to cook the meal from scratch, however, the advice is NEVER going to be as actionable and finely tuned for success as your mother’s.
Don’t take the scenic route to success. Find an expert who can really help you achieve your goals effectively!
Wrapping things up…
Overall, experts make our plans, goals, and aspirations in life far easier to achieve. Our approach towards success becomes more direct when we take the advice of an expert as a pose to those who are “average”.
This isn’t to put those who are average down, it’s just to say that if you want results as effectively and quickly as possible an expert is the ideal choice.
